Day 01, DEPART FOR PRAGUE: Depart from your hometown for your overnight flight to Prague. Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in the whole of the Czech Republic. The Vitava River flows quietly under the famous bridges that enhance the beauty of this infanous city.

Day 02, ARRIVE IN PRAGUE: Today you arrive in Prague, where you will find a city that is busy with tourists and many cultural and musical events. The rest of the day is at leisure to acclimate to the time change.

Day 03, PRAGUE: Meet your travel companions at a “Get Acquainted Breakfast.” Your morning tour will include the 12th century Rotunda of the Holy Rood, the Black Tower, the Gothic Town Hall, and the 14th century synagogue - the oldest existing synagogue in Europe. At Prague Castle, see the Basilica of St. George, excavated remnants of the Rotunda of St. Vitus, and much more. During your sightseeing you will cross over the Karlsbruecke Bridge with three towers and countless sculptures, dating back to 1357. The afternoon is free to explore this awesome city on your own. You may want to visit “Golden Lane,” a little street with 18 colorful houses built in the walls of the fortress. Bohemian glass is the biggest export for the Czech Republic, and has always been on everyone’s list as the item to take home.

Day 04, PRAGUE TO SALZBURG: After breakfast, your journey will take you through the scenic Czech Republic and along the Danube River. You will pass through towns that are known for spas, and a summer residence of Emperor Franz Joseph. Later this afternoon, you will arrive in the lovely city of Salzburg, birthplace of Mozart, and made famous by the Von Trapp family in the popular movie, “Sound of Music,” starring Julie Andrews. Day 05, SALZBURG: Your first stop this morning will be Mozart’s home. After your visit here, you continue along the picturesque Getreidegasse, which is one of the main streets of old Salzburg. This is a very lively shopping area, graced with wrought iron signs. Your next stop will be at the cathedral, done in Italian Baroque style, and containing the largest organ in Austria. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure. One of the most impressive sights is the 12th century fortress on the hill, which is visible from every point in Salzburg. This is worth the cable railway, which starts behind St. Peter’s cemetery. Tonight you will have a Mozart Dinner at the restaurant, St. Peter Stiftskeller.

Day 06, SALZBURG, BERCHTESGEDEN, BUCHEN: You cross the border in the morning and drive through the Bavarian Alps where you will visit Berchtesgaden. It is easy to understand, amidst all this beauty, why Hitler chose this area to establish his special hideaway, the Kehlsteinhaus, or Eagle’s Nest. You will visit this WWII landmark before your day journey takes you to Rattenberg, a quaint little medieval town, which was famous for its mining. Here, you will visit the Rattenberg Castle, from where you will see a magnificent view of the town; downstream you may get a glance of the rising Kaiser Gebirge. You depart from Rattenberg and continue on to Buchen where you will enjoy a resort in the clouds. Nothing you have ever experienced will match the two nights that you will have in this hotel. This is a memory maker!

Day 07, BUCHEN and INNSBRUCK: This morning after breakfast, you leave your Tyrolean Alpine hotel for sightseeing Innsbruck. As you explore the capital of Tyrol, you will discover that this is a most unique town. Here, your local guide will point out the various sites and continue on to the Little Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl). This particular structure was completed in 1500 and is part of the local folklore, which today still remains a popular tale. You will have time to explore Innsbruck before returning for leisure at your Tyrolean hotel.

Day 08, BUCHEN, NEUSCHWANSTEIN, OBERAMMERGAU: You leave the beauty of Tyrol, as your panoramic ride takes you through the alpine Wetterstein Mountain Range, whose southern half is in Austria and the upper region in Germany. On your way to stunning Oberammergau, you will stop at the famous Neuschwanstein Castle. One of the three castles built by Ludwig II, “Mad King” of Bavaria. This castle is the most perfect and delicately ornate of all castles, serving as inspiration for the Walt Disney Castle in Disneyland.

Day 09, PASSION PLAY: This will be an experience of a lifetime, whether it is your first time or for a return visit. The morning is at leisure for you to truly enjoy Oberammergau. This year the Passion Play will start at 2:30 in the afternoon. Enjoy dinner before the evening performance starts. Day 10, MUNICH: Upon arrival, you will have a city tour that will acquaint you with the city, including the residential area on the Munich East, followed by crossing the Isar River to view the Bavarian Parliament. Follow the large street named Maximilianstrasse, which was laid out by King Maximilian II between 1852 and 1859. You do not want to miss the timing at the Marienplatz, Munich’s historic center, as the town clock with small mechanical figures appear twice daily at 11:00 am and 5:00 pm to play the “Glockenspiel.” The rest of the day, as well as Day 11, are at your leisure.

Day 12, DEPART MUNICH for HOME: Sadly, all good times must come to an end, and so we must say goodbye to our new travel friends and take with us the great memories of this 2010 Picturesque Prague and Alpine Wonders. This morning, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to the USA. If your flight leaves early, the hotel will prepare a breakfast box for you.
